Beer Garden Security Assistants
2 security persons at the gate, recommended
Reports to: Festival Operations Center, Security Coordinator, Festival Producer, other Coordinators as required
Job Purpose: To ensure a safe, secure environment for all Festival people.
Qualifications:
- Must be of legal age in Alberta
- Must have Alberta ProServe Liquor staff training (available online www.proserve.aglc.ca)
- The ability to work with little supervision
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Sensitivity to customer needs
Work setting:
- Outdoors rain or shine
- Standing and walking
- Beer Garden
- Outside bar type setting
Timeframe:
- Friday afternoon to Sunday evening
All General Security Duties and Responsibilities:
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Patrols an area, specific location or roaming as assigned
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess possible problems
- Observes and records any security related issues to FOC or Security coordinator as required, an incident report may be required
- Assists any person who requires help directly
- Referring people in need of assistance to the proper coordinator or area of responsibility, ex. first aid, lost & found, etc.
- Ensures (along with parking) that the emergency access lane is kept clear
- As required assists patrons leaving the site
- Checking all Festival site locations tents, port-a-potties, etc making sure they are clear at night end
- All radios signed out must be returned by the same person
- Ensures a safe, clean and friendly environment
- Provides a good impression and enthusiastically answers any questions about the festival
- Understand and complies with the Central Music Fest volunteer regulations and code of ethics
Beer Garden Specific Security Duties and Responsibilities:
- Requires 1 security person for every 50 patrons
- Counts number of patrons coming and going – coordinator to ensure enough security personnel for patrons in beer garden
- All patrons of the beer gardens are to have age verified wrist bands and are mandatory for alcohol purchase
- Completes age identification and comfortably secures wristbands on patronsand views age verification wristbands on re-entry. Requests re-identification if the age verification wrist bands appear tampered with ex: pulled, torn or loose
- Re-age verify a patron at the request of bartenders
- Sustain security within beer gardens by roaming, monitoring and maintaining order
- If patrons are disorderly or disruptive to other patrons, request assistance from security coordinator on how to proceed
- No alcohol or beer garden cups to leave the beer garden area
- Requires 1 security person for every 50 patrons
